This vintage WWII sweetheart necklace bears US Army insignia on a mother of pearl locket. The locket is hallmarked PR ST. CO. 1/20 12KT on STERLING, the signature of the Providence Stock Company of Rhode Island. It includes the original chain, 12K gold-filled, and measures 21 inches (has same hallmark as locket on the necklace clasp). The locket measures 1-1/4 x 7/8 inches. The piece is authentic, as it was handed down to me from my Great Uncle (one of three brothers serving in WWII simultaneously). This vintage item is approximately 70 years old and has been loved and cherished by previous Family owners, there is some slight wear/imperfections. Sweetheart jewelry was a token of affection from a service member originally given to their sweetheart. This tradition started in WWI, but became increasingly more popular during World War II era (1939-1945). From a smoke-free/pet-free home. **FREE Shipping**
